Looking for a live draft? Try a high stakes league.

Sure the internet makes it possible for you take part in hundreds of online drafts, but does that really compare to a LIVE fantasy football draft? No way, not even close.

If you aren’t lucky enough to have a group of friends willing to gather for a night of drafting and debauchery, well then, maybe it’s time to get new friends. Or maybe it’s time to consider joining one of them fancy high stakes leagues, and get in on one of their live drafts.  These league are a bit costly, but the rewards are also higher too. It’s also a great excuse to ditch the significant other, and fly out to Vegas to spend a weekend with a bunch of other like-minded degenerates. Sounds pretty awesome, right!?! (more…)

Fantasy Lifespan of Wide Receivers

A few years ago (2007 to be exact) I created a spreadsheet which tracked the lifespan of running backs. This was during a period that I owned LaDainian Tomlinson in my dynasty league, and I was having an odd feeling that his career may be peeking. The research I did tracked the statistics of the best running backs in NFL history, and what I found from it paid off quite well. Nearly every RB tracked showed a dramatic spike in TD production at the early-mid point of their career, followed by a massive drop off two years later. The good news is I traded away L.T. at the height of his value. The bad news is the data was lost during a tragic computer crash.
