Cheatsheet Creator “Quick Tip”: Stat Projections
After receiving several requests last season to create a “projected fantasy points” tool for Cheatsheet Creator, we made a point to adding it to the 2010 service. At first sight the section can seem a bit overwhelming, so we decided to write up this brief overview of how it works and tips to make the “projection process” easier.
How it works:
To access the “Stat Projections” area go to the “Notebook” section and then click on the Stat Projections link (note you must be logged in and have a PRO account to use this feature). Upon arrival you will see all of the players in your Notebook, along with input boxes to enter in your projected statistics for each player. This is the same method Notes and Rankings are adjusted in the general Notebook area. The idea of doing this for every player may seem like a bit much, so we added a tool to speed up the process.
Import Projected Stats:
Our friends over at Tony Holm’s Fantasy Sharks were kind enough to let us dig into their API, and use their 2010 Player Projections to speed up the statistic projection process for you. With just a few simple clicks, you can now get all of the expert stat projections from Fantasy Sharks imported directly into your notebook.
To do this, just click on the “Import Fantasy Sharks Projections” link, located in the dark brown header bar. You will then be taken to a page to confirm the import and finalize the process. It should be noted that any time this is performed, the process will overwrite any of your own edits, so you should do this first and only once (if you plan on making a lot of personal edits).
When you return to the Stat Projections page you will see that the statistics have been pre-populated with the Fantasy Sharks data. Fast and sweet.
The Final Step: Customizing Your Scoring Rules
Nearly all of the cheat sheets and reports created by Cheatsheet Creator now display the PFP (Projected Fantasy Points) field. For this to display though, you must setup your league’s scoring system. This can be completed by clicking the Customize Scoring System link that is located in the Notebook area (right next to Stat Projections). From here you will input all of your league’s scoring rules, and then click save.
PFP: Projected Fantasy Points
When all of the above is complete, you will now see some legitimate numbers in the PFP column of your “Notebook”. The PFP is an automatic calculation of a players projected fantasy points, based on their input statistics and your league’s custom scoring system (which you completed in the previous step). In short, we do all the math for you — which is a really nice time saver. The PFP will also now start showing up on various reports that you export from the Cheatsheet Creator “Reports” area.
While all this seems like a bit much, in reality the PFP can be completed in about 1-2 minutes. From there, you can spend as much time as you desire tweaking players projected statistics.
If you have any suggestions to improve this area, or any other section of the website, we encourage you to leave a message on the CSC Community Forums.
